Understanding The Operations Of Your Weapons Of War

It will be suicidal for a soldier with a gun in a battlefield who doesn’t know how to pull the trigger, your guess is as good as mine to what will eventually become the fate of such soldier. The same applies to a Christian who doesn’t know how to operate his or her weapons in the spiritual warfare.

Our enemy -the devil- is very crafty and strong, therefore we need to understand the uses of our weapons of warfare to always stay victorious at all times.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12;

We are fighting a spiritual warfare, and it’s expedient to know more about the strength and weakness of your opponent.

Our enemy the devil is not a pushover in this kind of game, therefore you need to understand better the efficacy and power of your own weapons of warfare so as to be able to gallantly face the enemy without sustaining an injury in the war.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4;

I feel amazed yet disappointed everytime I see a Christians being afraid of the powers of darkness. I liken this kind of a Christian as a soldier who doesn’t know how to operate a gun.

Many Christians are like this, however unknown to the church.

God purposely allows you to come across this post because He wants you to learn to operate your weapons of war which He has given you.

As a believer, there are nine primary weapons of war to use against the devil and its demons.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day. Ephesians 6:13;

Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth. Ephesians 6:14a; It’s expected of every Christian with the understanding of the spiritual warfare to always stay truthful in all things at all times.

…and having on the breastplate of righteousness. Ephesians 6:14b;   Righteousness means living your life according to the will of God by obeying His laws and following His commandments. When you live your life according to the will and commandments of God, the devil cannot withstand the power that you’ll be endowed with from heaven.

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6:15; Confessing the Lord’s goodness to everyone is one of the weapons the devil certainly don’t want you to lay your hands on. If you find it hard to preach the goodness of Jesus to others then you’ve ignored one of the greatest weapons that should take the front row in your arsenal against the forces of darkness.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony. Revelation 12:11;

It was this weapon that David used in defeating Goliath. He conquered Goliath by the testimony of the Lord’s victory in the past. Abstractly, David was evangelizing the gospel of God’s kingdom, which is the kingdom of peace, by confessing before the multitudes how God has been faithful to him and helped him in defeating many wild animals he confronted while tending to his father’s sheep.

Your confession in the face of temptation is also a form of evangelizing the gospel of peace, do it always and the devil will flee from you.

Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:16;

Whoever comes to God must believe that He existed and that He rewarded all that diligently serve Him. Faith is like a breath to a Christian, where there’s no breath, there’s no life.

The weapon of faith is indeed a powerful one that if the devil manages to steal from your arsenal then you may consider the battle lost.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him… Hebrew 11:6;

Faith is your shield against the enemies attack. Your faith is the only reason why you can still fight the war of righteousness, and it’s also why you still belong to God and why you have Him continually on your side. The devil knows the importance of faith to a Christian, and as such important piece of a believers life, the devil targets to steal our faith. Once your faith is stolen the battle is lost. Devils cheat sheet is to steal believers faith. So as you use your faith to guard against the enemies attack also make you that your faith is renewed with the word of God.

And take the helmet of salvation… Ephesians 6:17a;  The blood of Jesus was shed so that we may be saved. Believers helmet of salvation is the gospel of the kingdom of God, which is established on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everything, that has relation to the death and resurrection of Christ is the helmet of salvation. The covenant of that salvation is the blood of Jesus Christ which was shed for us on the Cross of Calvary. For this reason, always plea the blood of Jesus upon yourself attached to your belief in the gospel of the kingdom of heaven your helmet of salvation is secured.

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission… Hebrew 9:22; It was through the power in the blood of Jesus that we conquered the devil.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb… Revelation 12:11; The blood of Jesus is potent and the power is limitless, always plead the blood of Jesus when confronted by the forces of darkness and victory is assured.

…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17b;

The word of God in your mouth is the Sword of the Spirit and you’ve got to use it confidently and effectively against the powers of darkness in the spiritual warfare. Jesus used this sword against the devil after He had fasted for forty days and nights in the wilderness, Matthew 4:1-11;

Be careful, the devil is also knowledgeable of the word of God and he may try to twist you with it just as he did with our Lord Jesus Christ in the wilderness, but by the wisdom of God through the Holy Ghost who is the comforter, you’ll come out victorious.

For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thought and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12; You can see how powerful the word of God is.

The Bible can be likened to a gun while the bible verses as a bullet and you need to always give yourself to studying the word of God so that you’ll know how to use and aim the spiritual bullet when the need arises.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:18a; Prayer is the master key that a Christian use in unlocking all doors. It’s the source of Jesus power during His earthly ministry, whenever He was confronted with someone that needs healing, He would say: …Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. John 11:41;

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray, and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matthew 14:23; Jesus Christ was always very busy during the day, however, He didn’t because of this forget to observe His hours of prayer.

Jesus understood that God has made a covenant concerning vigil.

I love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me. Proverbs 8:17;  Early simply mean 12 a.m because that’s the beginning of the day.

Jesus observed vigil and was fervent in His prayers and that contributed to the success of His ministry while He was still on earth. Jesus left His glory as the Son of God in heaven and it was quite possible for him to fall into temptations as humans and neglect His calling, but because He used his weapons of prayer rightly, he was not moved by the temptations of the world.

If Jesus can take his prayer hour seriously, despite His tight schedule, what about me and you? It is important to set aside some days within the week for observing vigils.

Prayer is a weapon that should be used always in this spiritual warfare. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:7;

…and watching thereunto with all perseverance. Ephesians 6:18b;

You must always take heed to yourself, don’t always be overconfidence as Peter did when the Lord told him about the plan of the devil concerning him and how he’s going to deny Him thrice.

Examine yourself always to see whether ye be in the faith, prove your own selves. 2 Corinthians 13:5;  This task is better left to none else but yourself since you know yourself best. So, I implore you to constantly check your standing with God and see whether you’re still on the right track with God.

And supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:18c;

All believers fight the same war. It is a war for the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, make it a must to pray for all saints. Doing this is like forming an alliance with other believers in the spiritual warfare. When you pray for others you help them renew their weapons of war in the spiritual warfare even when they are not aware they needed to check their weapons. When your weapons of warfare are at a critical level they will be replenished by the prayers of the saints even when you’re also unaware.

Put on the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6:11;

If you can follow all the precept in this post, I assure you that, the marital, financial, healthy living Goliath you’re seeing in your life now, you’ll see them no more.

I believe you’ve been enlightened with the word of God. Kindly share this post to help others also benefit from the post. God bless you as you do so.
