It’s painful to admit but if as Christians you walk around in ignorance of the war you’re already a part of, then you’re unlikely to survive or come out victorious from it.

Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:3,4;

Because of this ignorance, a lot of Christians fails and sustain a constant injury in their earthly spiritual warfare. Can you imagine a soldier in a war that didn’t take cognisant of where he was, such soldier will eventually become a war casualty, likewise it is to many Christians, but when you finish reading this post you’ll be more informed about the expectations of God concerning your obligation on this planet earth.

In this above bible verse, you’ve known better that you’re a soldier, and God admonishes you to endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, that means you’ve got no right to complain about anything but endure and always know that

…all things work together for good to them that love God. Romans 8:28;  In the real life, not all secular soldier were in warfront at all time, but spiritual soldier fight war continually every day of their lifetime.

You may be surprised to learn that you’re in continuous warfare and your opponent the devil is never tired nor weary.  Be vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8;  Our enemy, which is the devil, is ever ready to launch an attack on an unprepared Christians. But many Christians today, wrap our heads around the earthly things thus causing us to be susceptible to the devil’s attack.

God is admonishing you that’s reading this post to fight the good fight of faith. 1 Timothy  6:12; Just as a good soldier is always ready and prepared for war so should all Christians be also.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12;

The war is not physical, therefore we do not wrestle or go to war with anyone, but rather we fight the spiritual warfare with the powers and rulers of darkness.

You should know that this powers can’t be underrated in this warfare, therefore you’ve got to continually lunch an attack on the forces of darkness to ensure that your abode in Christ does not suffer an attack from this enemy -the devils.

There’s a saying that goes thus: “the best defense is to always be offensive” the same is true with the spiritual warfare. What this means is that you should always lunch missiles of prayers at the gate of hell so it does not prevail over you.

There’s a popular saying that goes thus: “the best war is been won by strategies and not by strength“. You need to always study the weakness and strength of your opponent the devil in other to be able to accurately lunch your prayer missiles at his weak spots.

In the physical warfare, the enemy does attack through the land, sea, and air, taking cognisant of this, the parties in the war prepare themselves for defense by deploying appropriate force men to all the possible channels of attacks. Navy to the sea, Airforce in the air, and Soldier on the ground. Likewise, as a spiritual soldier and government of our own life, we need to know more of the possible areas of attacks that the enemy could exploit and get a steady defense in place in those areas.

The spiritual area of attack by the enemy usually includes:

The eyes are the number one point of attack by the enemy, the first family in the world that was targeted and captured by the enemy was through the eye.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eye. Genesis 3:6;

The mistake Eve made was that she had her gaze on the forbidden fruit that was how the snake could have easily deceived her to eat the fruit. When you gaze too much on the things of this life the devil could easily deceive you to forsake God to have them.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it brought forth sin, and sin when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:14,15;

When Prophet Jeremiah discovered this area of enemy attack, he lamented: Mine eye affected mine heart because of all the daughters of my city. Lamentations 3:51;

If Jeremiah can say this in the early days, then how much more we living in these present age with the types of dresses ladies put on nowadays?  As a brother in the Christendom, I implore you to guard your gaze with women, that the arrow of the enemy may not pierce your heart. If you struggle with controlling your lusts after women, cry to God to restore His spirit in you. As a sister in the Christendom, dressing seductively to entice men, is one of the signs that the devil has taken control of your life and body. Please repent before it’s too late.

As you read this post I want you to make a covenant with yourself as Job did. I made a covenant with mine eyes, why then should I think upon a maid? Job 31:1;  God was very proud of Job, let God be also proud of you by also making a covenant with your own eyes.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. Matthew 6: 23; An unguided eye destroys the heart.

The eyes are like a defense in a football team, if the defense is weak, the goalkeeper will be under intense pressure and there may be a goal conceded eventually.

Using our football example, the heart similarly, is like the goalkeeper and when the ball of attack escapes through the eyes which is the defense the goalkeeper may not always have much power to prevent a goal from being conceded. The ball in our illustration means the temptation to sin.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adultery, fornication, murder, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things comes from within and defile the man. Mark 7:21-23;

These were the balls that your heart who is the goalkeeper must always kick out. The heart is the most sensitive among the three areas of attacks, that’s why God admonish us keenly to keep our heart. Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23;

The easier way to always overcome at this stage is to fill our heart with the word of God so that there won’t be any space left to keep other things which are not of God.

Thy word  have i hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 119:11;

Following our illustration of football, you know that the ball is the temptation to sin, the eye is the defense, and that the heart is the goalkeeper, there’s one last thing that completes this illustration is the tongue, which is the goalpost.

The tongue is the goal post because any temptation that slid out of the tongue will now be accounted to sin.

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue, I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. Psalms 39:1;

Our enemy -the devil- is always close to us at all times therefore as a true believer, you have to be quiet and watch every word that proceeds out of your mouth especially in times of trials and temptations. When you say something that doesn’t glorify God in times of temptation or trials you have conceded a goal from the enemy which is the devil.

…if any man offends not in words, the same is a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:2;

You may wonder why the devil and the forces of darkness are fighting believers this fiercely? The answer, simply put, is to steal their faith!

At conversion, God gave every new believer a gift of salvation to enable us to operate perfectly in the new kingdom.

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7;

The earthly kingdom operates by sight, while the heavenly kingdom operates by faith. Faith is the greatest miracle a Christian can receive from God, and without it, the gospel cannot be preached because the gospel is built upon faith.

Faith is as important to a Christian as breadth is important to human being. And, just as no human being can survive without breathing no Christian can survive without faith.

Above all taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:16;

The devil knows the efficacy of this gift of faith that a Christian has, that’s why he constantly looks for an opportunity to steal away that faith by throwing temptations and trials at us.

There’s a saying, what you don’t appreciate, will eventually depreciate. Be mindful of your faith and guard it at all cost.

At the beginning of our salvation, God gave us a bit of faith to work with and grow, and now it’s a duty and our responsibility to make sure that our faith is fully built to the climax.

The primary ways to grow our faith is by living in the word of God and by prayer and fasting. And He said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:29;

Pray without ceasing against the kingdom of darkness, and by so doing, you’ll always stay victorious against the devil.

We can see how much the devil chase after the faith of believers, that even after the Lord deposited this gift of faith into the life of Simon Peter, all hell was let loose to take it away from him. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not, and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Luke 22:31,32;

This same way the devil targets all Christians to take away their faith, and it’s left to us to guard our faith from our enemy, the devil.

God wants you to always examine yourself because only you can really know whether or not you’re still in faith.

Examine yourself, whether ye be in the faith, prove your own selves. 2 Corinthians 13:5; What sin are you indulging in? The devil has planted that sin in your life as a means to steal your faith, God is not pleased with your negligence, please repent and amend your ways before God so that your faith can be restored.

Do your best to guard against the three areas of attacks and be fervent in prayers and fasting and you’ll overcome the war of faith.

I’m certain you’ve been blessed reading this post, kindly share this post with your friends so they too can benefit from the grace of the word of God. God bless you!
